About Me

Born in Montgomery County, Maryland but raised in Fairfax County, Virginia, I did my undergrad at Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia. I loved Hampton Roads and Southeastern Virginia so much that I wanted to stay, so I crossed the river to Norfolk for my masters at Old Dominion University (ODU). Through some great professors at both schools, I was introduced to my future advisor Dr. Swinton at Howard by Dr. Koch at ODU, who happened to be collaborating with him right around the time I was thinking about Ph.D. programs. They both gave me the encouragement I needed to apply and keep going. Outside of research, I am a volunteer with the Lorton Volunteer Fire Department which is part of the Fairfax County Fire & Rescue Department, where I'm on the Board. I like fire trucks so I guess it's a pretty good fit.

When I am not working or volunteering, you can find me skateboarding or playing my huge backlog of switch games.
